Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy follows the retired spy George Smiley (Oldman) as he tries to find out who is the undercover spy in MI6 when he is tipped off by the agent Ricky Tarr (Hardy). Smiley's former boss: Control (Hurt), told agent Jim Prideaux (Strong) that the mole was one of five men: Percy Alleline (Jones) (Tinker), Bill Haydon (Firth) (Tailor), Roy Bland (Hinds) (Solidier), Toby Esterhase (Dencik) (Poor man) or Smiley himself (Spy). Now he and Peter Guillam (Cumberpatch) must find him...
I found TTSS very confusing, but I think that is because I don't know the Cold War very well as I found Watchmen confusing as well. The acting is just brilliant - Gary Oldman should get an oscar for his role and Tom Hardy lifted the film as Ricky Tarr while Benedict Cumberpatch and Mark Strong were equally as good - but the story went a bit over my head. It's a film I want to rewatch to see how I feel about it then. So watch this space...
